Rescue/Disaster Movies

We all know California is the place to live, perfect weather and gotta love the beaches. Yes I know the LA TRAFFIC, sucks but other then that its all GREAT… Now imagine, one day we get struck by an asteroid, or a BIG monstrous earthquake (that’s suppose for happen like 10+ years ago) or out of know where, we get a tropical storm and it FLOODS everything. What is the first thing that come’s to your mind? How will you fight to survive!  Ok i think i said enough, don’t want to freak you out or anything but no one can control Natural Disasters…. Now here is a list of movies, that could give you an idea on how you can possibly survive certain natural disasters. Some movies maybe over exaggerated but they all do a good job, and keep you on the edge of your seats but for some it may scare you off.

volcanoVOLCANO – What will the people of Los Angeles do when they are faced with an  earthquake, then a volcanic eruption. See what happens to our lovely Los Angeles when disaster strikes. Good story, dramatic, nice visuals and overall a descent watch. 2ThumbsUP gives this movie a 3/5.

dantespeakDANTE’S PEAK – The resident’s, living in one of the most desirable countryside town are about to face the dangers of a Volcanic explosion. A volcanologist Harry (Pierce Brosnan) slowly begins to realize that Dante’s Peak is on the verge of becoming active and dangerous. After several attempts Harry finally convinces the town’s mayor, Rachel (Linda Hamilton) to evacuate immediately. Will the people of this town make it out alive. Some humor, a little emotional, and lots of PANIC! 2ThumbsUP gives this movie a 3.5/5.

They use a prototype Dorothy, a ground-breaking tornado data-gathering device to test on this twister. Come join them on the wild chase and see what happens. Good performances, great visuals, funny and keeps you engaged. 2ThumbsUP gives this movie a 3.5/5.

Jack Hall (Dennis Quaid) a climatologist, proves that an enormous “superstorm” is setting off catastrophic natural disasters throughout the world. Can Jack help save the world, watch and find out. Descent story, predictable at times, great visuals. 2ThumbsUP gives this movie a 3/5.

the impossible 03THE IMPOSSIBLE  When a natural disaster strikes, there isn’t much you can do to control it and only hope you get out ALIVE.. Maria (Naomi Watts), Henry (Ewan McGregor) and their three sons begin their winter vacation in Thailand. But the day after Christmas, their holiday turns into a nightmare when a terrifying Tsunami rises from the sea. Brilliant performances, keeps you on your toes, great visual effects and overall a very entertaining movie. 2ThumbsUP gives this movie a 4.5/5.

aliveALIVE – The thought of CRASHING and not being able to see your family and friends ever again, just sounds scary. This movie is based on a TRUE STORY, a Rugby team crashes in the Andes Mountain. Group leader Nando (Ethan Hawke) tries to keep everyone’s spirits up. Not knowing when they will be rescued, and food ration running low, the group faces a terrible dilemma. You need FOOD to survive, and the only thing around you, is human flesh. Amazing performances, great story, filled with emotions, and an excellent watch. 2ThumbsUP gives this movie a 5/5.verticallimitVERTICAL LIMIT – Would you ever be able to forgive yourself if your loved one died because of you?? During a mountain climb, Peter’s (Chris O’Donnell,) father looses his grip during the climb and dies. Annie, Peter’s sister, hired by wealthy businessman Elliot (Bill Paxton) to lead a trek. Due to severe weather, Peter’s sister and Elliot get stuck and cannot leave the mountains. Her brother, plans a rescue mission to save them. Thrilling scenes, good story, great visuals and a descent watch. 2ThumbsUP gives this movie a 3/5.
